The Philadelphia 76ers live to fight another day.
The 76ers kept their season alive with a do-or-die, 112-106 overtime victory against the New York Knicks on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. Philadelphia now trails 3-2 as the first-round Eastern Conference playoff series shifts to Philadelphia on Thursday.
Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey finished the night with 46 points, a playoff career-high, but Maxey's most important points of the contest came as the 76ers trailed 97-94 with 15.1 seconds remaining. Maxey advanced the ball up the court and knocked down a 34-foot 3-pointer to tie it up and send the game to overtime. The game-tying shot marked Maxey's seventh point scored in just 11 seconds.
Maxey picked up right where he left off in overtime and hit another 3-pointer, his seventh 3 of the night. Maxey scored 22 of his 46 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. He also had nine assists and five rebounds.
Joel Embiid finished with a triple-double — 19 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and four blocks — and Tobias Harris added 19 points and eight rebounds. The Knicks' Jalen Brunson had a team-high 40 points and six assists. Josh Hart had 18 points and 9 rebounds.
"Two more," Maxey said to Embiid as they shook hands after the win.
Game 6 is Thursday in Philadelphia.
